Saturday was a firestorm of a day for Thessaloniki! 17/10/22 Every time Dub Inc come to Thessaloniki, it's the one live show I never miss.
One time, I even went while I had a 39°C fever! That was pre-COVID-19, and I stayed way in the back—so don’t worry, no one got sick because of me. They only left with a fever from the music!
My connection with this band is deeply emotional. They were the first band I started listening to when I began exploring the reggae-ragga music scene.
I was 19 back then, and now I’m 31.

You can understand why, for me, this is the band that raised me, made me dance like crazy, and sing in French—even though I don’t know a single word!
Back then, I thought the music they played was just reggae. Later, I started digging deeper and discovered all the subgenres of this music. Dub Inc may be influenced by reggae, but their sound draws heavily from dancehall, dub, ska, and rap.
These musicians are the epitome of fun. Every time I see them, it feels like the first time—and that says a lot about both them and their ever-growing fanbase, both globally and across Greece.

I can confidently say they’ve changed the reggae music industry and expanded their age demographic significantly. That’s why Saturday was such a fire day for Thessaloniki!
At the concert held at We, I saw kids, teenagers, middle-aged folks—even pregnant women.
And let me tell you, I always get emotional seeing pregnant women at the shows I go to. I feel this deep and generous hope for those unborn children. They already have the foundation from their parents to become good people. You can’t go to a show like this and not embrace the values this music and these musicians promote.
My favorite part is always when the singers ask us to sit down and slowly jump up in the air. They’ve done it the same way at every concert, for years, during the same song. And the crowd? Always just as willing and enthusiastic. If that doesn’t show the love Thessaloniki has for them, I don’t know what does.

The energy of the crowd sticks with you for days after the live. Because in the end, what stays with you are the emotions created by a unified community of people—people you somehow know, deep down, share enough thoughts and feelings with you to make you feel not alone in a world where everyone lives in their own little bubble. Reggae music has that magical ability.
Dub Inc were, are, and will always be the one band that makes you dance and express your uniqueness with every inch of your body.If you weren’t at that concert, trust me—you missed out. But don’t worry. They told us they’ll be back. And next time, you’ll have no excuse not to go.

Finally, a huge thank you to my friend Dadie for the close-up photos she gave me. With so many people, I couldn’t get anywhere near the stage.
Dub Incorporation… till the next time!
